D. C. Grady

Daniel C. Grady (September 4, 1856 - March 28, 1925) was Chief-of-Police in the early 20th Century. Mr. Grady retired from the police force in 1917. [1]
As a beat cop in 1904, Grady was the first to reach the home and murder scene of Fannie Crawford McCue. Grady later served as chief of the Charlottesville Police Department and was replaced by Z. L. Damron in 1917.[2]
Grady died on March 28, 1925 (aged 68), burial was at Oakwood Cemetery. The following gentlemen acted as pall-bearers: Z. L. Damron, J. C. Marsh, W. M. Wood, M. F. Greaver, W. J. Dudley and W. J. McCauley, all members of the city police department. [3]
