The Confederate Monument is located within the Confederate Cemetery section of the University of Virginia Cemetery.[1] It is an eight foot bronze statue that rests on a twelve feet high gray granite pedestal. [1] The statue depicts a young Confederate solider, holding his hat and with rifle at the rest position.[1] Four encircling bronze tablets carry the names of the soldiers buried at the cemetery. Seventeen blank spaces represent unknown soldiers. [1]
