The Charlottesville City & Suburban Railway Company began operating the first electric streetcar on January 12, 1895. [1] [2].

History

The company collected 2,000 fares in its first two days of operation in 1896. [3].

The company was sold at public auction on November 10, 1903. [4]

Then it merged with the Charlottesville and University Street Railway Company and the combined served was renamed the Charlottesville and Albemarle Railway in 1903. [5]

The service operated until 1935. [6]
