The City of Charlottesville's Facilities Management plans, budgets and actualizes capital and non-capital improvement projects related to buildings owned by the City and City Schools. "Capital" is defined as any construction or renovation effort budgeted at or above $25,000.[1]

The CIP also has a fund that can be used by City Council for various reasons throughout the year.
