The Charlottesville Area Association of REALTORS (CAAR) is a trade association for real estate professionals in the Charlottesville area, which CAAR defines as Charlottesville, Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson Counties.

Anne Gardner became the new chief executive officer on October 11, 2010.[1]

Real Estate Weekly

CAAR publishes the Real Estate Weekly, a publication whose office moved into shared space with C-Ville Weekly as of 2010. According to an email announcement, CAAR did not sell the publication to C-Ville and consolidated offices to "allow the CAAR Real Estate Weekly to reduce staff and overhead."[2]

Political activity

CAAR publicly endorses candidates for local office, and directs resultant contributions from the Realtors Political Action Committee of Virginia to their campaigns.

2009 endorsements

In 2009 CAAR endorsed Rodney Thomas (R) for the Rio seat on the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors, and Duane Snow for the Samuel Miller District seat. In Charlottesville, CAAR endorsed Dave Norris (D) and Kristin Szakos (D) for the Charlottesville City Council[4][5].
