In an effort to preserve the history of Charlottesville, Albemarle, and the surrounding areas, many institutions have been established to oversee, orchestrate, and enforce restorative initiatives as they relate to the area's historic buildings, homes, and communities. These institutions, both private and public, work in unison to ensure that not only is the history of this region preserved for current generations and those yet to come, but that the efforts enacted are done so in a successful manner. What follows is a listing of these institutions.
