Biography
Werner was born in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He moved to Charlottesville in 1978 to work for the Charlottesville Fire Department when he was 18. Prior to his work with the Charlottesville Fire Department, Werner was a volunteer firefighter with Harrisonburg Fire Company #1 and a volunteer EMT with the Harrisonburg Volunteer Rescue Squad. He and his wife and two children live in the Saddlewood subdivision in Albemarle County. He is a Star Trek fan.[1]
On March 5, 2012, Council recognized his 2011 Governor’s Fire Service Award for Excellence in Fire Service Management. [3]
