- June 9 – Former Governor Harry Flood Byrd today termed the prohibition referendum opposing the sale or consumption of alcoholic beverages as suggested by William G. McAdoo, illegal. [1]
Births
- August 11 – Patricia Ann (Bunton) Byrom in Chicago, Illinois. Moved to Albemarle County in 1975. In 2004 Byrom’s husband, Colonel Robert M. Byrom, gifted 600 acres of their family farm in Blackwell's Hollow, (Albemarle County) as the Patricia Ann Byrom Forest Preserve Park for the enjoyment of all.
- August 15 – John E. Baker moved to Charlottesville in 1971 and later became the first elected African-American to serve on the Albemarle County School Board or as that board's chair.
- October 20 – Roosevelt "Rosie" Brown, Charlottesville City native became one of the premier offensive linemen in U.S. pro football.
- October 19 – Marvin Henry Hiltonin Lynchburg, Virginia, died 2010 just a few months after being appointed to represent the Samuel Miller Magisterial District on the Albemarle County Service Authority's Board of Directors.
- December 15 – Mary Ann Wilder Elwood, born in Elkhart, Indiana later arriving in Charlottesville in 1964 and rose to become the first female president of the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce and served as the first female chair of the Charlottesville Democratic Committee. She died on September 12, 2011 at age 78.
