- August 11 – Patricia Ann (Bunton) Byrom in Chicago, Illinois. Moved to Albemarle County in 1975. In 2004 Byrom’s husband, Colonel Robert M. Byrom, gifted 600 acres of their family farm in Blackwell's Hollow, (Albemarle County) as the Patricia Ann Byrom Forest Preserve Park for the enjoyment of all.
- August 15 – John E. Baker moved to Charlottesville in 1971 and later became the first elected African-American to serve on the Albemarle County School Board or as that board's chair.
- October 20 – Roosevelt "Rosie" Brown, Charlottesville City native became one of the premier offensive linemen in U.S. pro football.
