Burnley-Moran Elementary School is a fully accredited child-centered school serving approximately 300 students in preschool through grade four. The student/teacher ratio is 20:1. [1] Their mascot is a bobcat.[1]

Burnley-Moran Elementary School is located in the north-eastern portion of Charlottesville.

Elizabeth Korab became the principal before the start of the 2018-2019 school year. [2]

History

Burnley-Moran opened in 1954. It takes its name from the first two women to head Charlottesville schools. Carrie Burnley was the first principal of McGuffey School and served as such for twenty-eight years, and Sarepta Moran was the first principal of Venable School and served as such for twenty-one years.[4]

The school campus is 15 acres and has views of Monticello.[1] It is within walking distance of the Downtown Mall and the Rivanna Greenbelt Trail.[1]

The mascot is the bobcat. [5]

Dawn LoCasale will become principal of the school for the 2011-2012 school year. [6]
