Brandon Collins is a socialist candidate running for the Charlottesville City Council in 2011. [1] He serves on the board of the Charlottesville Center for Peace and Justice and is the secretary of the Socialist Party of Central Virginia. If elected, he intends to challenge the state's 'Dillon Rule' which limits the authority of local governments without expressed consent of the Virginia General Assembly.

Collins is a graduate of Charlottesville High School and works at the Blue Moon Diner. [2] He is also one half of the duo Barling & Collins. [3]

Collins and three other independent candidates have argued that a July 20 forum for the Democratic candidates in the race should have included them. [4]

Platform

Collins has called for Charlottesville Area Transit service to be extended into late night hours, and has also called for a "guaranteed wage" for all Charlottesville residents. [5]
