Benjamin F. Bunn was the founder of the local chapter of the NAACP.

Background

Bunn was a strong advocate for the rights of African-Americans in the Charlottesville area. In November 1953, he lead a campaign to get the city to hire African-American policewomen to help children walk to Jackson School and Burley School. [1]
