The Barksdale-Totty House is one of Charlottesville's individually protected properties, meaning any exterior changes or potential demolition would have to be approved by the Board of Architectural Review. The house is located at 402 Dice Street[1]. The house is also known as The Grove.

The home is included within the Fifeville and Tonsler Neighborhoods Historic District. It was built by master builder and brickmason Allen Hawkins. [2]
