The Ballard-Maupin House is an 18th century structure in Albemarle County listed on the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places. It was listed on the VLR on June 17, 1998 and the National Register on February 5, 1999. [1]

Narrative from Virginia Landmarks Registry

"The Ballard-Maupin House was constructed in the late 18th century and exhibits the typical form and construction features utilized in Western Virginia during and shortly after Western European settlement in the region. The home was built for Thomas Ballard and features handcarved woodwork: random-width pine floors, paneled wainscot, beaded ceiling joists, and finely carved mantels. Gabriel Maupin purchased the house in the 1850s; it remained in the family until 1990. The contemporary owners undertook a complete restoration of the house in 1994-95. There are less than a dozen of these property types left in Albemarle County."
