Baker-Butler Elementary School opened in 2002 and currently educates 471 pupils. [1] The school is part of the northern feeder pattern. Students continue on to Sutherland Middle School and then Albemarle High School.


History

The school is named after James R. Butler[1] and John E. Baker. Butler was the first African-American to serve on the Albemarle County School Board and Baker was its first African-American to chair. Albemarle County School Board. [2]
