Athletics Master Plan
The Athletics Master Plan is a comprehensive development plan designed by the Virginia Athletics Foundation and the University of Virginia to update the University's athletics department and replace several outdated facilities, like the McCue Center.[1] The plan encompasses a series of new buildings and various additions to existing facilities and includes two natural grass fields, a Football Operations Center, and an Olympic Sports Center.[2] Financing for the project is primarily donation-based and comes from prominent UVA Alumni like Molly Hardie, Robert Hardie, Tony Bennett, and others.[3] As of Spring, 2024, the natural grass fields and Football Operations Center are near completion,[4][1] with the center expected to be completed sometime in the next few months.[3][5]
Naming of Constructed Facilities
Following a decision on the request from the UVA Athletics Department by the Board of Visitors on June 7, 2024,[6] the Football Operations Center will be dedicated to Molly and Robert Hardie, two influential donors to the project and UVA Alumni.[7]
