She is active in the community through her more than five years at student/business groups like CASBA and Piedmont Futures and participation in Charlottesville Department of Social Services's Interview-4-Success program as well as Habitat for Humanity and the Sexual Assault Resource Agency. Owens is a member of the 2011-2012 Leadership Charlottesville class[1].
