Her responsibilities include coordinating bicycle and pedestrian planning efforts between the city, Albemarle County, and the Virginia Department of Transportation; addressing questions and complaints from bicyclists and pedestrians; evaluating development proposals for their accommodation of bicyclists and pedestrians; and overseeing the city’s Safe Routes to School program. Before accepting her position with the city, she worked five years with the local Renaissance Planning Group. Poncy was also co-author of an AARP report called "Planning Complete Streets for an aging America."
