Notable events

  • November 24, 1909 – An appeal from an Albemarle County resident is published in the Daily Progress calling upon Charlottesville to keep its saloons closed. "There is no doubt that the majority of our people are glad that their county is so nearly dry, and wish to keep it so, especially to keep the county seat dry." [1]
