The Albemarle County Planning Commission is a seven-member body that provides guidance to the Board of Supervisors on issues of planning and development. Six of its members serve four-year terms and are appointed by each member of the Board of Supervisors. A seventh is elected at-large and serves a two-year term. One member is selected among the Commissioners to serve as chair.

The Crozet Gazette reports Ann Mallek has appointed Tom Loach to the Albemarle County Planning Commission[1], taking the White Hall seat currently held by Duane Zobrist. Loach is an outspoken critic of the Crozet Master Plan who abandoned an bid for the White Hall seat on the Board of Supervisors. Now he'll get the chance to weigh in on the plan when it comes back before the Planning Commission in 2009. He's lived in Crozet since 1989, and is a former president of the Crozet Community Association.

Lindsey Dorrier (Scottsville) and Ken Boyd (Rivanna) have not announced whether they will reappoint William Craddock and Cal Morris to their respective seats.

Marcia Joseph's term as At-Large Commissioner also ends on December 31. Joseph unsuccessfully challenged Ken Boyd for his seat on the Board of Supervisors. The At-Large member serves for a two-year term.
