550 East Water Street is a 70-foot tall building under construction in downtown Charlottesville. The developer is Core Realty and the designer is Formwork. [1]
Development
In 2016, developer Andrew Baldwin successfully won a certificate of appropriateness for construction of the building on a vacant lot. [2] City Council later upheld an appeal from nearby residents. [3]
Utility relocation got underway in December 2016 and involved the closing of Water Street to eastbound traffic. The work lasted longer than expected. [4]
