The City of Charlottesville purchased the property on [[February 28]], [[2024]] from the [[Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority]] using federal [[American Rescue Plan Act]] funding. A staff report in January suggested the purchase would be to develop a housing shelter, but City Manager Sam Sanders reiterated that was not a guarantee. <ref>{{cite-infocville|title=Council to appropriate $21M surplus, consider purchase of land from CRHA at Avon/Levy|url=https://infocville.com/2024/01/16/council-to-appropriate-21m-surplus-consider-purchase-of-land-from-crha-at-avon-levy/|author=Sean Tubbs|work=|publisher=|location=|publishdate=January 16, 2024|accessdate=August 28, 2024}}</ref> <ref>{{cite-infocville|title=February 2024: Single family house on 10th Street NW sells for $625K and 31 other Charlottesville transaction|url=https://infocville.com/2024/03/20/february-2024-single-family-house-on-10th-street-nw-sells-for-625k-and-31-other-charlottesville-transactions/|author=Sean Tubbs|work=|publisher=|location=|publishdate=March 20, 2024|accessdate=August 28, 2024}}</ref> <ref>{{cite-infocville|title=Council approves Charlottesville’s purchase of CRHA property on Avon Street|url=https://infocville.com/2024/02/11/council-approves-charlottesvilles-purchase-of-crha-property-on-avon-street/|author=Sean Tubbs|work=|publisher=|location=|publishdate=February 11, 2024|accessdate=May 13, 2026}}</ref>
