  • October – Rubin Observatory Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST) Survey scheduled to begin this month with full science operations for the ten-year survey. The Rubin Observatory, located on Cerro Pachón in Chile, is expected to generate roughly 10 million changes in the sky each clear night. Rubin Observatory's Education and Public Outreach (EPO) program will provide opportunities for public audience to interact with and explore Rubin Observatory data. [1] All Public Night and Educational Group programs at McCormick Observatory and Fan Mountain Observatory were canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions.[2]
