The general election for 2015 will be held on November 3.

Charlottesville

City Council

On June 9, 2015, voters in the Charlottesville Democratic Primary nominated Wes Bellamy, Kathy Galvin and Mike Signer for the three seats up for election. [1]

The terms of Kathleen Galvin, Satyendra Huja and Dede Smith conclude at the end of 2015. [2] Huja announced he would not seek a third term, but Galvin and Smith sought nominations for second terms.

Wes Bellamy, Lena Seville and Mike Signer all challenged the nomination. Smith placed fourth in the June 9 primary.

Democrats held a mass meeting on May 18, 2015.

Independents have until June 9 to file paperwork with the county registrar.

Rivanna District

There will be an open seat in the Rivanna District as Ken Boyd will not seek a fourth term. [11] Lawrence Gaughan originally filed for the Democratic nomination in the Rivanna District, but changed his status to independent once Democrat Norman Dill announced he would also seek the party's bid. [12]

Gaughan has raised $3,800 as of April 15, 2015. [13]

Additionally, there will be a special election to fill the seat being vacated by Eric Strucko. [20]

Other races
