Albemarle County
The seats on the Albemarle Board of Supervisors currently held by Dennis Rooker, Rodney Thomas, and Duane Snow are all up for reelection. In addition, a special election will be held to appoint a successor to Christopher Dumler, who resigned from the board on June 5, 2013. The seats on the Albemarle County School Board held by Pamela Moynihan, Diantha McKeel, and Eric Strucko are up for reelection, but none of them are contested.
Jack Jouett District
Board of Supervisors
On April 3, 2013, Dennis Rooker announced he would not seek a fourth term for the Jack Jouett Magisterial District. Instead, he endorsed fellow independent Diantha McKeel. [1]
McKeel will face fellow independent Philip Seay in the general election. [2]

Katherine Lee Acuff filed her candidacy papers for Diantha McKeel's open seat the week of June 3, 2013.[3]

- Bob Fenwick, a former Republican who ran as independent in 2009 and 2011, ran as a Democrat in the spring of 2013.[12]

Judge Edward Hogshire ruled that the city must hold a special election for treasure and it was held on April 2, 2013.[18] The Charlottesville Democratic Committee has chosen to hold a firehouse primary to choose its nominee.[9] Jason Vandever defeated John Pfaltz with 75 percent of the vote.[19]
Commissioner of Revenue
Two Democrats sought the nomination to succeed Lee Richards as commissioner of the revenue. Jonathan Stevens and Todd Divers were the two candidates vying to be the winner in the June primary.[8] Divers defeated Stevens. [citation needed]
