On May 7, 2002 Charlottesville held elections for two seats on the City Council.
City Council
Democratic caucus
David Toscano did not run for re-election to Council, resulting in a large field for the Democratic nominations. Blake Caravati and Alexandra Searls were nominated, defeating challengers Joan Fenton, Waldo Jaquith, Bern Ewert and David Simmons.
