- May 4 – Republicans Laurence Brunton and Edwin E. Gatewood, Jr] place first and second in City Council elections with Nancy K. O'Brien coming in third place.
- July 2 – Nancy K. O'Brien selected as Mayor at her first meeting on Charlottesville City Council. [1]
Deaths
- June 14 – On this Monday, Judge George Minor Coles died of natural causes in the Judge's Chambers after recessing the Court and retiring to his private office. Judge Coles served the City and State for many years as a Judge of the Corporate Court, and later the Circuit Court of the City.
