Charlottesville

There was a Democratic primary for City Council on April 3, 1962. J. Earl Barnett challenged the incumbents Louis L. Scribner and J. Robert Ponton. [1]

In the primary, 1,857 Democrats went to the polls. Scribner received 1,368 votes, Ponton received 1,064 votes and Barnett received 907 votes. [2]

The general election for Council was on June 12, 1962.
