Events
- January 13 – A new high school building in Red Hill in Albemarle County is dedicated. [1]
- January 24 – Charlottesville City Council meet and award a contract to Glamorgan Pipe and Foundry of Lynchburg for pipes for a waterline and a contract to Boggs and Halstead for construction of a new reservoir dam at Mayo's Rock. Council also banned the selling of livestock on Market Street and Seventh Street. [2]
- June 5 – Alcohol: Thirteen years before national prohibition began, Charlottesville went "dry" when city residents cast their vote and passed a local option law. In Virginia, thirteen towns have voted on local option this year, eleven went "dry". Virginia is among the southern states still considering the alcohol issue.[3]
- Fall – Harvey E. Jordan begins teaching at the University of Virginia.
