William C. Webb and his wife Virginia Walker Webb was one of the first residents of the Belmont-Carlton neighborhood after it was developed by the Belmont Land Company. [1]

Webb and his wife bought a triangular-shaped lot at what is now 1001 Belmont Avenue in 1894. Webb was a saddlemaker, musician, and an independent businessman. Their son was Walker Webb. [1]
