Title I refers to Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. Title I aims to improve basic math and reading skills by directing federal funding to schools with high-percentages of low-income and at-risk students[1].

2013/14 Funds

In July 2013, Charlottesville City Schools saw a decrease in Title I money due to the Federal Government's sequestration program. Originally, Charlottesville budgeted for approximately $1.48 million in Title I funding, but received approximately $1.34 million[2].
