- 1757 – Peter Jefferson, a planter, cartographer and politician in colonial Virginia best known for being the father of the third president of the United States, Thomas Jefferson, began to fall ill. He was attended by Dr. Thomas Walker, but failed to recover and died on August 17th at his house on the Shadwell tract in Albemarle County when his son Thomas was 14 years old and Thomas Walker was appointed his guardian.
- 1863 – Private Thomas Walker enlisted in the Union army at Mason's Island, Virginia, at the age of 16. Walker was born into slavery around 1847 in Charlottesville.
- 1931 – Reunion of Confederate Veterans held in Charlottesville, June 25-27.
