Slate River

The Slate River is a 48.8-mile-long (78.5 km) tributary of the James River that lies entirely within Buckingham County. Maintaining an average elevation of 64 meters (210 feet), the river rises about 10 miles (16 km) northeast of the town of Appomattox and flows northeast past the town of Buckingham, eventually reaching the James River near Bremo Bluff.[1]
