Robert Bernard Bell III (born April 23, 1967) is a practicing attorney and member of the General Assembly. In 2001, Mr. Bell was elected to the Virginia General Assembly as the Delegate from the 58th District, which includes Greene County and parts of Albemarle, Fluvanna, and Rockingham Counties.[1][2] He assumed office in 2002. His current term ends on January 10, 2024.
As Delegate, he serves as the Chairman of the Courts of Justice Committee. He has also served as the Chairman of the Virginia State Crime Commission, which studies Virginia’s criminal laws and makes recommendations to the Legislature.
Biography
Bell earned his B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1988 and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1995. Bell's professional experience includes working as an attorney, state prosecutor, and legal representative. Prior to serving as a member of the General Assembly, Bell was a state prosecutor and the Chairman of the Albemarle County Republican Committee.

2021 election
Incumbent Bell defeated Sara Ratcliffe in the general election for Virginia House of Delegates District 58 on November 2, 2021.
Republican primary election
The Republican primary election was canceled. Incumbent Bell advanced from the Republican primary for Virginia House of Delegates District 58.
Campaign history
Bell announced on December 6, 2011 that he would seek the Republican nomination for Attorney General in the 2013 election. He raised $1.1 million for the primary but lost to Mark Obenshain.[3]
On December 3, 2015, Bell announced that he would seek the Republican nomination for Attorney General in the 2017 election.[4] However, Bell dropped out of the race in November 2016. [5]
