The MPO Policy Board has endorsed a project to pave 1.1 miles of Rio Mills Road from U.S. 29, which would provide for an additional road between the main highway and Earlysville Road (Route 743). However, the County Board of Supervisors has recently[when?] put the project on indefinite hold given the ongoing revenue shortfall. The project remains on the MPO's Transportation Improvement Program[1].
