  • Queer is a commonly used - if not universally accepted - shorthand to mean lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning individuals and communities. LGBTQ is also a common shorthand (L-lesbian, G-gay, B-bisexual, T-transgender, Q-questioning) for individuals and communities. LGBTQ and LGBT are recognized terms in academic and research literatures, as well as popular media.
