The County's Attorney Office is the legal department for Albemarle County. Staff gives legal advice to the Board of Supervisors, the School Board, and all other County departments. Staff also makes sure that the decisions of the Board and the Planning Commission are legal.

Steven Rosenberg began work as the new Albemarle County Attorney on July 27, 2022. [1] [2]


On January 1, 1934, the Albemarle Board of Supervisors created a new attorney position that would handle all civil matters, removing those duties from the Commonwealth's Attorney. John S. Graves became the first county attorney. [3]
