- 1938 – Albemarle Circuit Court Judge Lemuel F. Smith rules that a public bond issue for a sewage disposal in the Fry's Spring Sanitary District was null and void because the referendum did not comply with state law. [1]
- 1953 – Charlottesville City Council purchase a strip of land from Snow's Nursery for $750 to expand Water Street parking lot, accepted Branch Street into city road network and renamed it Sheridan Avenue, and discussed further restrictions on further hook-ups to natural gas. [2]
