Mollie Wood
Mollie Wood (1901–2013), a supercentenarian who was the oldest known resident of Charlottesville, died on December 17, 2013 at the age of 112.[1]
Born on April 26, 1901, Mollie was a resident of the Belmont-Carlton neighborhood.[2] She lived through two world wars, numerous events of historical importance, and celebrated many family milestones – including being the matriarch of a family spanning six generations.[3] Daughter of the late Robert and Florence Hall Wood, she was the last survivor of their nine children. Widow of Charles Wood (1898–1968), she was survived by 19 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-great- grandchildren.
Mollie Wood was buried at Monticello Memorial Park next to her husband.[4]
