Crafaik attended St. Anne's Belfield School and Corning Free Academy in Corning, New York, and graduated from Charlottesville High School and the University of Virginia. In 1994, he founded Michael's Bistro and Tap House on the University Corner.
At a press conference in late March, Crafaik called upon the City Council to hold a plebiscite on the Meadowcreek Parkway.
"Let's not put in the hands of three council members a decision so crucially important to many thousands," Crafaik said.
Crafaik also wanted a switch to an elected school board.
