The Mead Endowment is a fund at the University of Virginia that exists to support the ability of faculty to integrate into the lives of students.

The endowment was created in 1991 by university alumni who were inspired by professor Ernest "Boots" Mead, now professor emeritus of music, for his impacts on students and integration into students' university experience[1].

The fund has collected over $1 million raised by former students of Mead. The endowment gives grants for "Dream Ideas" that would allow the applicant professor to "interact with small groups of students in a way not afforded by their normal classroom routine"[2]. Grants total up to $3,000. Eleven professors received Dream Idea grants in 2011[1].
