Matthew McLendon is the director of the Fralin Museum of Art at the University of Virginia. He began work on January 9, 2016. [citation needed]

Biography

Prior to coming to the Fralin, McLendon serves as curator of modern and contemporary art at The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota, Florida.

Prior to joining the Ringling, McLendon was the curator of academic initiatives at the Cornell Fine Arts Museum at Rollins College. Prior to that, he was at the Tate Britain in London.

McLendon has a bachelor’s degrees in music and art history from Florida State University, and master’s and doctoral degrees in the history of art from the Courtauld Institute of Art at the University of London.
