Market Central
Market Central is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing the Charlottesville City Market. The organization aims to promote the vitality of area agriculture.[1] Market Central was founded in 2003.[2]
About Market Central
"We’re passionate about the roles that a local, public market can play in a community as
- a source for fresh, local foods
- a venue for local artisans
- a business incubator
- a social gathering place – the ‘town square’
- an economic driver for the area
Mission
"Thus Market Central’s initial mission: Raise funds and awareness to create a permanent home, where the community can enjoy better access to local farmers, crafters, and food producers year-round, in any weather. In pursuing that goal, Market Central maintains a strong relationship with City Council and city administrators. We also remain committed to serving our community through charitable and educational outreach."[3]
