Dr. Lizbeth Palmer is a former member of the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors who served as chair in 2016. She won election to the Albemarle Board of Supervisors on November 5, 2013, defeating incumbent Duane Snow. [2] [3] She won re-election on November 7, 2017. [4]
Palmer did not seek a third term. [5] Upon leaving office, she was appointed once again to the Albemarle County Service Authority.
Biography
Palmer serves on the Board of Directors of the Albemarle County Service Authorityand represented the Authority on the South Fork Rivanna Reservoir Stewardship Task Force from 2008 to 2009. She also served on the Ivy Creek Foundation Board of Directors from 2004 to 2010. Liz Palmer has been involved in Rivanna watershed issues for many years as a member of the League of Women Voters Natural Resource Committee. Palmer will be the citizen representative for Albemarle County on the Rivanna River Basin Commission until 2013.
She has been a practicing small animal veterinarian for 30 years. She presently owns and operates Charlottesville End of Life Pet Care, a business that provides in home hospice care for companion animals.
Palmer was originally appointed by former Supervisor Sally Thomas during 2006-2009 to the ACSA Board, but Supervisor Duane Snow opted to select Marvin Hilton instead for a term beginning in 2010. When Hilton died in 2010, Palmer was reappointed.
As a representative on the Albemarle Board of Supervisors, Palmer advocated keeping Albemarle courts in downtown Charlottesville, halting the Western Bypass project and launching video streams of Board of Supervisor meetings. She also supported collaboration between the city of Charlottesville and Albemarle county [6].

She announced her candidacy for the Samuel Miller seat on the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors on April 11, 2013.[3] Palmer raised $20,461 in campaign contributions between April and May 29, 2013. [9] In the period from July to August 2013, Palmer received $10,844 in donations. [10]

2017 election
Palmer announced her intention to seek a second term representing the Samuel Miller District on the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors on March 29, 2017. She will likely face Republican John Lowry in the November 7, 2017 election [6].
