Lincoln Cemetery
The Lincoln Cemetery is a historically African- American cemetery located at 2820 Hydraulic Road in what was once a thriving village of Hydraulic Mills and the community of Union Ridge in Albemarle County. The cemetery is currently owned by the J. F. Bell Funeral Home, Inc. of Charlottesville, Virginia. This 3.9 acre historic burial ground is enclosed by a fieldstone fence to the north and woods to the south. There are several hundred burials here, representing a diverse selection of gravestone motifs and forms.[1] The grave of Mary M. Woolfork is the oldest recorded grave at Lincoln Cemetery. Woolfork died on August 11, 1883.[2]
Lincoln Cemetery is adjacent to the Union Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

2017 SESSION Historical African American cemeteries and graves. Directs the distribution of funds appropriated for such purpose to qualifying charitable organizations that preserve historical African American cemeteries established before 1900. The funding formula is $5, or the average actual cost of routine maintenance, multiplied by the number of graves, monuments, and markers of African Americans who lived at any time between 1800 and 1900 and are interred in the cemetery. The bill lists two cemeteries, East End Cemetery in Henrico County and Evergreen Cemetery in the City of Richmond, that are to receive any funds appropriated for a total of 6,975 gravesites.[4]
