Deaths
- 1902 – Lizzie Petit Cutler dies and is later buried at Riverview Cemetery in Richmond, Virginia. Having been born in Milton in 1831, Cutler was an influential author of Southern United States literature in the nineteenth century.
- 1923 – Dorothy Zenobia Lias dies in Albemarle County. A graduate of Jefferson Graded School and a resident of the Rose Hill neighborhood, Lias had her portrait photograph prominently featured in the “Visions of Progress: Portraits of Dignity, Style and Racial Uplift” exhibit of Rufus W. Holsinger's photographs that was on display at the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library from 2022 to 2023.
