James Henderson was the Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services for the Charlottesville City School Division until retiring in 2020. [1]

Henderson will serve as Acting Superintendent to replace Rosa Atkins when her retirement is effective on May 31, 2021. [2]

Biography

Jim Henderson is married and the father of four sons. He worked in the City of Charlottesville Public Schools for more than 36 years. He spent his first 8 years in Charlottesville teaching in the classroom at Clark Elementary School and Jackson-Via Elementary School and later held the position of Curriculum Coordinator at Jackson-Via Elementary School and Johnson Elementary School.

In 1987 he was appointed Acting-Principal of Jackson-Via Elementary School. In 1990 he served as Principal of Johnson Elementary School until 2000 and served as Principal at Walker Upper Elementary School from 2000 to 2007. He was Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services for the Charlottesville City School Division upon his retirement in 2020.

Jim Henderson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Masters of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from Virginia Tech.
