James Bryant is Chair of the Charlottesville School Board. [1] Bryant was appointed by the School Board on April 11, 2018 to fill a vacancy left by Adam Hastings.
Bryant was first appointed to the seat as an interim member in April 2018 to fill a vacancy left when Adam Hastings resigned. Bryant was elected to a full-term in 2019 in a five-way race in which he placed fourth. His seat is up again in the 2023 election.
Bryant is a retired teacher and school counselor who last worked at Charlottesville High School. He is a member of Charlottesville’s 10th and Page Street Community Development Block Grant Task Force.
He also ran for re-election in 2019. [2]
