Howard Moon' was an Albemarle County resident who died on March 9, 1934 after being shot by a man named Charlie Staples. [1]

Tragic death
Moon lived near Pine Knot and on March 8, [[[1934]] got into a dispute with Staples over timber. After an initial confrontation ended, Moon traveled to Staples house, and Staples shot him as he entered his yard. Staples turned himself in. [1]
