Heartmoor Farm Education Centre provides classes and workshops for individuals age 12 and older in ecology, the arts, literature, and a broad range of Humanities and sciences.

Monthly events sponsoring artisans and inspirational speakers from throughout North America engage participants, offer opportunities for meaningful connections to their world, and help groups develop solutions to complex issues.

Options for students of all ages range from methods in alternative building practices and appropriate technologies to the fine arts, woodworking, geopolitics, and cooking.

Located in Kents Store in Fluvanna County, Heartmoor is surrounded by 300 acres of private woodland not owned by the school.

Information

Facilities include a renovated 1863 corn crib with straw bale infill and plaster walls, a 4500 sq ft. timber frame woodshop and barn, a garden shed, sheep shelter, and labyrinth.

Livestock and vegetable gardens dot the 5 acres campus including Nigerian Dwarf goats, American guinea hogs, guinea fowl, ducks and chickens.

The property is listed with United Plants Savers as a Botanical Sanctuary and is home to many wild and medicinal threatened or endangered species of plants.

11 perennial and medicinal gardens offer students practical opportunities for engagement with nature.
